Breaking a tackle in a game against Dalj, 2010
And so the circle of grind starts all over again. Currently I'm reading through the book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible with a couple a friends. We should finish this week and then move on to another book. Probably the biggest theme in the book is meaninglessness. "History merely repeats itself..." Life is a cyclical pattern. Weariness, oppression, and inhumanity exist. The writer talks about the futility of life. Life can often be lame, but there are a few nuggets of gold in the book that the King mentions for us... I will leave the search for you to find it.
Football... if there's no games, no competition, training can feel futile to me. "What's the point?" is often a question that comes to my mind when anything I do has no purpose. I just finished my first week of individual training. 6 days, plus a half practice on Sunday has gone by. (I'm still working out a training schedule so I can get a good solid rest, tomorrow, I rest) I got up this morning knowing I needed to hit the field even harder, faster, and longer. I started as usual, but this week, after my speed training, I was able to get in 3 circuits plus some DB drills. Last week, mentally I could only do 3 circuits after speed training, or 2 circuits and some DB drills. But this week, I could feel the difference, the training is paying off. Pushing my body physically and mentally works, and it is worth it, Cause i know I'll be able to compmete when the game comes in April.
This morning reminded me once again of a quote the apostle Paul wrote in a letter to his friend Timothy: "Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come."
